6. Two chords AB and CD intersect at P inside the circle. AB = 17 cm, AP= 12 cm,
PD = 3cm then what is the length of the chord CD​

In this we don't have the radius of the circle

so, we will not use the general formula of chord

we have relationship between the two chords ;

product of the length of the chord from the Point of intersection = product of the length of the 2nd chord from the Point of intersection

Now, let the length of CP be A then,

AP×PB= CP×PD

12×(AB-AP)=A×3

12×5= A×3

A= 60/3

A=20 cm

CD= 20+3=23 cm

So, length of chord CD will be 23 cm.
