Evelyn Glennie is a renowned multi-percussionist. She is also one of the most adored instrumentalist amongst the disabled community.
Evelyn started to become profoundly deaf at an early age due to nerve deterioration. Surprisingly, this didn't stop her to pursue her dream, that was music.
Her eagerness to study music was always frowned upon by her teachers and people in society owing to her disability. Ron Forbes, a famous percussionist from the Royal Academy of Music, inspired and encouraged Glennie to follow her passion.
She felt music through her body and not by her ears. The vibration produced by various percussion instruments enabled her a unique perspective to the sound of music.
At the age of 17, she joined the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London. She has scored the highest marks in the history of its acadmeics.
