Explanation:

6) Hit: Any contact with the ball using a swinging motion of the stick. A hard hit is called a drive.

Push: Method of moving or passing the ball in which the stick is in contact with the ball and the ground as the player pushes the ball up the field.

7) The penalty corner ends when a goal is scored, the ball is played over the back line and another penalty corner is not awarded, a penalty stroke is awarded, the defending team is awarded a free hit, or the ball travels more than 5 metres outside the circle (i.e. beyond the dotted line outside the shooting circle).

8) A sweeper usually plays behind the defence, adding extra security and attempting to regain possession for the team. This allows time for the rest of the team to get back and defend. Another key role is to intercept passes made by the opposition. A sweeper should be able to anticipate the opposition's movements.

9) Field hockey is played in two halves. Each half last for 35 minutes and the break in between usually runs for five to ten minutes. At the start of each half, a player starts the play by passing the ball from the centre of the field. This is the same way play is restarted after a goal is scored.

10) An injured player may not be treated on the field of play and may only re-enter after play has restarted; if the ball is in play, re-entry must be from the touchline but if the ball is out of play, it may be from any boundary line.
