6. What is the general representation of a point on the y-axis?
7. If the point (3,4) lies on the graph of 3y = ax +7, then find a.
8. Name the figure formed by joining the points 0 (0,0), A(3,0), B (3, 4) and C(0,4)

Answer:

A6 the general representation of a point on the y axis is - (0,y)

A7 let the point be P ( 3,4)

as it lies on the line having equation as -

3y = ax + 7

therefore substituting the values of x and y coordinate of point P in the equation we will get

3(4) = a(4) +7

12 = 4a + 7

4a = 5

a = 5/4

A 8

let the points be

O(0,0)

A( 3,0)

B(3,4)

C(0,4)

Now by distance formula

OA = root of ((3-0)^2 + (0-0)^2)

= root of ( (3)^2)

= 3

AB = root of ( (3-3)^2 + (4-0)^2)

= 4

BC = root of ((0-3)^2 + (4-4)^2)

= 3

OC = root of ( (0-0)^2 + (4-0)^2)

= 4

so as the opposite sides of this quad are equal

OA = BC = 3

AB = OC = 4

Now diagonals

AC = root of (( 3-0)^2 + (0-4)^2)

= 5

OB = Root of ((3-0)^2 + (4-0)^2)

= 5

therefore diagonals are also equal so

AC = OB = 5

OABC is a reactangle

...

i hope this will help you
