What does it measure? How dos the P/R ration change from early to late succession? The P/R ratio measures the amount of productivity that occurs in an environment based on the respiration. In early succession, the P/R ratio is P/R > 1 and that is when the biomass accumulates and if P/R < 1 the biomass depletes.
