This story is all about love .Tinang discovers after reading the love letter from her first love, Amado, that she is still loved by him. However, by then, she is already married to a Bagobo and has a son with him.
- "Love in the Cornhusks" is one of five elaborately choreographed stories for which Rivera-Ford has won the Jules & Avery Hopwood Prize in Michigan. In 1955, The Sunday Chronicle's This Week magazine published the winning story, with illustrations by Rod Dayao.
- From N.V.M. Gonzalez to Epifanio San Juan, critics hailed the story with rare compliments, citing its masterful flair but also its sobering vision - a rare case of art that prevails over the world, all beliefs and methods of persuasion. Two years later, Rivera-Ford published five of her stories, Now and at the Hour and Other Short Stories (1957).
- Rivera-Ford's memorabilia at ALIWW includes the first draft of the story, titled "Love in the Farm". The ink manuscript defines how, during the rewrite, Rivera-Ford renamed her now famous protagonist – from Anselma Godoy to the plain and humble Tinang. Amado's letter, much analyzed in panel rounds for the innocent outbursts of King's English, remains intact, demonstrating Rivera-Ford's ability to quickly understand comic effect.
