Question:- When a candle is lighted, following observations are made: in the candle bums ii. size of the candle reduces iv. melted wax solidifies m. wax melts ?

Solution:-

When a candle is lighted, the following observations are made:-

1) When the candle burns is an irreversible change.

When a candle is burned , chemical reactions take place between the wax and oxygen.

These chemical reactions release energy in the form of heat and light. These chemical reactions can't be reversed back.

2) The size of the candle reduces

It is an irreversible change.

3) Wax Melts -

Melting of wax is a physical change.

In melting of wax, only the state of wax changes from solid to liquid.

It is a reversible reaction and no new substance is formed.

4) melted wax solidifies

It is a reversible process

Hope this helps:-)
