They arise due to the variation in the characterstics particles of matter.

There are five known states, of matter:

1. solids =>wood, sponge, toys.

2. liquids=> water, juice, mercury.

3. gaseous =>vapour, gas, Helium

4. plasma => The electricity helps to strip the gas molecules of their electrons. Another example of plasma is a neon sign. Just like a fluorescent lights, neon signs are glass tubes filled with gas.

5. Bose-Einstein condensates. =>Two examples of materials containing Bose-Einstein condensates are superconductors and superfluids.
