Why is loss of soil fertility occurring as an effect of Green revolution?

after independence there was food shortage in india. due to this only green revolution was introduced. so to meet the demand of food there was overuse of fertilizers and farmers used HYV seed which needed more nutrition as compared to normal seeds. this the reason for loss of soil fertility occurring as an effect of Green revolution
