War is usually an armed conflict between two countries. The war that occurs between two groups within the country is called a civil war. War, in general, causes a large scale destruction to life and property. The most important thing about war is that it has never proven to be a permanent solution to the problem. It only escalates tension between waring nations and leaves the people feel very much insecure and uncertain of future. Besides causing tragic loss of lives war causes a severe damage to the economic, political, educational institutions of the country.
First and foremost, war causes loss of lives. People in large numbers are killed in no time during wars. Innocent people especially children and women are killed in a most gruesome manner. In addition, many are left permanently disabled or maimed. The lives of these people change for the worst all of a sudden. If the head of the family is dead or permanently injured, it puts the whole family in distress.
War affects the economy of the country very badly. During wars heavy damage is caused to life and property. As major business establishments and official buildings are destroyed, there is a possibility of widespread unemployment. Country’s exports are severely affected as production houses get damaged. Trade with neighboring countries and the rest of the world comes to a standstill. As the production of the essential goods is affected, their prices go beyond the reach of the poor people. Thus war causes a high level of damage to the country’s economy.
War destabilizes the political system of the country. The ruling party of the country sometimes does not consult the major opposition party about going for the war with the country in dispute. This leads to conflicts between the political parties before, during and after the war. When this happens the government headed by the ruling party fails to govern the country efficiently or fails to implement welfare schemes for the people. Another important effect of war on the political system of the country is, as the country is busily engaged in the war, vested interest within and outside the country try to take control of major institutions and establishments and try to sabotage their order.
The education system of the country is severely affected because of war. In wartime, educational institutions such as school. colleges, universities remain indefinitely closed. Students feel insecure and uncertain about the future. If the war lasts for a long time, students lose hope about their future and fall into depression.
In conclusion we must prevent wars for its causes unthinkable damage to life and property. We the younger generation, who will be tomorrow’s leaders, must resolutely work for a peaceful world
