60 m B E 4 m F 14. Playing field of a school is rectangular in shape. Its length and breadth are 60 m and 45 m, respectively. There is a path 4 m wide inside the field all around it. Find the area of the path. 45 m H G С D

if the path us covering area of 4 m then

for length 60 m 8m will be subtracted

so 60 - 8 = 52 x 4 (partial area of path)

= 208 which on both side make

2 x 208 = 416

now in breadth we will do same

so 45 -8 = 37 x 4 = 148

on 2 sides so 2 x 148 =296

now total area covered by path = 416 +296 = 712 m²
