Answer:

210 parents gave 150 rupees

Step-by-step explanation:

let the parents who gave ₹150 be 'x' and those who gave ₹50 be 'y'

therefore, 150x + 50y = 51000

15x + 5y = 5100 -------------------(i)

Now, given that

x + y = 600

5x + 5y = 3000 ---------------(ii)

Subtracting eq(ii) from eq(i)

we get, 10x = 2100

x = 210

substituting the value of x in eq(ii)

x + y = 600

210 + y = 600

y = 390

Answer:

  • Total Parents attended = 600
  • Some donated Rs. 100 while some Rs. 50
  • Total Donation = Ra. 51,000
  • Number of parents who gave Rs. 150 = ?

Let the number of parents who gave Rs. 150 be n and number of parents who gave Rs. 50 be (600 - n).

According to the Question :

⇒ Parents × Donations = Total Amount

⇒ [n × 150] + [(600 - n) × 50] = 51000

⇒ 150n + 30,000 - 50n = 51,000

⇒ 100n + 30,000 = 51,000

⇒ 100n = 51,000 - 30,000

⇒ 100n = 21,000

⇒ n = 21,000/100

n = 210

Hence, Number of parents who donated Rs. 150 are 210.

⇢ Parents × Donations

⇢ [n × 150] + [(600 - n) × 50]

⇢ [210 × 150] + [(600 - 210) × 50]

⇢ 31,500 + [390 × 50]

⇢ 31,500 + 19,500

Rs. 51,000
