Complete Question:
600 shares of Rs.10 each were forfeited for non-payment of Rs.2 per share on the first call and Rs.5 per share on the final call. Share forfeiture account will be credited with:

(a) Rs.1,200

(b)Rs.1,500

(c) Rs.1,800

(d) Rs.2,100

Answer: (c) Rs.1,800

600 shares of Rs.10 each were forfeited for non-payment of Rs.2 per share on the first call and Rs.5 per share on the final call. Share forfeiture account will be credited with Rs.1,800

Explanation:

Given:

600 shares at Rs. 10 were forfeited

Non-payment of the first call and final call.

To Find:

Amount share forfeiture account will be credited with

Solution:

Issued shares on Final Call = Number of shares x Amount of share

Issued shares on Final Call = 600 x 10

Issued shares on Final Call = 6000

Non-payment of the First call = Number of shares x Amount of first share call

Non-payment of the First call  = 600 x 2

Non-payment of the First call  =  1200

Non-payment of Final Call = Number of shares x Amount of final share call

Non-payment of Final Call = 600 x 5

Non-payment of Final Call = 3000

Thus, the total amount not paid is 1200 + 3000 = 4200

Therefore the total amount that will be credited in the share forfeiture account = 6000 - 4200 = 1800

Conclusion:

600 shares of Rs.10 each were forfeited for non-payment of Rs.2 per share on the first call and Rs.5 per share on the final call. Share forfeiture account will be credited with Rs.1,800
