Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of sent soldiers be X

Then, remaining soldiers be 600 - X

A.T.Q.

a: 600 ; 600 - X

b:30 ; 40

since, it is inverse variation.

600 × 30 = 40(600 - X)

18000 = 24000 - 40X

18000 - 24000 = -40X

-6000 = -40X

40X = 6000

X = 6000÷ 40

X= 150

Hence, 150 soldiers left for the fort.
