It has given that, wavelength of monochromatic light, λ = 6000 A° , width of slits , d = 0.6 × 10¯⁴ m.

We have to find the highest order of minima on both sides of central Maxima.

solution : we have to find height of

highest order of minima on both side central maxima.

we know for minima , dsinΦ = nλ

⇒sinΦ = nλ/d ≤ 1 [ as sinΦ must be less than or equal to 1 ]

⇒n ≤ d/λ = (0.6 × 10¯⁴)/(6000 × 10¯¹⁰) = 100

so on one side of central Maxima, there are 100 minima

Therefore no of Maxima on both sides of central Maxima = 100 + 100 = 200
