Acid present in mixture
= 600/100×52
=6×52
=312
Therefore
1%=312/52
=6

Such that 80%
=6×80
=480
Hence ,489ml is acid

Answer : The 840 ml of acid should be added to the 600 ml of the mixture to change the mixture from 52% acid to 80% acid.

Solution :

First we have to calculate the initial amount of acid.

Initial amount of acid = 600\times \frac{52}{100}=312ml

Now we have to calculate the amount of pure acid should be added.

Let the amount of pure acid added be 'x' and the equation become,

(312+x)=\frac{80}{100}\times (600+x)

By solving the term x, we get

x = 840

Hence, the 840 ml of acid should be added to the 600 ml of the mixture to change the mixture from 52% acid to 80% acid.
