Given :  A person X can complete 20% of work  in 8 days and another person Y can  complete 25% of the same work in  6 days.

To Find :   they work together, in how  many days will 40% of the work be

completed ​

Solution:

Let say Work = 100W

A person X can complete 20% of work  in 8 days

person X can complete work in 8 Days = (20/100)100W = 20W

=> person X can complete work in 1 Day = 20W/8 = 5W/2

A person Y can complete 25% of work  in 6 days

person Y can complete work in 6 Days = (25/100)100W = 25W

=> person Y can complete work in 1 Day = 25W/6

Person X and Person Y together 1 Day work  = 5W/2 + 25W/6

= ( 15W + 25W)/6

= 40W/6

40% of the work  = (40/100)100W = 40W

Number of Days =  40W/(40W/6)  = 6 Days

together, in 6 days  40% of the work be  completed ​
