From this ratio we can get the amount of milk and water.

Milk : water = 10 : 3

The sum of the ratios is :

10 + 3 = 13

The amount of milk is :

10/13 × 65 = 50 litres

The amount of water is = 65 - 50 = 15 litres

Let the amount of water to be added be x then :

The new amount is :

(x + 15) litres

The new ratio is :

50 : (x + 15) = 8 : 5

50/(x + 15) = 8/5

5 × 50 = 8(x + 15)

250 = 8x + 120

250 - 120 = 8x

130 = 8x

x = 16.25 litres
