Given :  Seeta and Geeta had certain number of chocolates with them. If Geeta gives 5 chocolates to Seeta, the ratio of the chocolates with Geeta and Seeta will be 3:2,

If Seeta gives 5 chocolates to Geeta, then the ratio of the chocolates with Geeta and Seeta will be 4:1.

To find : How many chocolates Geeta had initially

A) 35

B) 25

C) 20

D) 15

Solution:

Geeta had initially  = G

Seeta had initially = S

Geeta gives 5 chocolates to Seeta,

=> G - 5  and S + 5

ratio of the chocolates with Geeta and Seeta will be 3:2,

=> (G - 5)/(S + 5)  = 3/2

=> 2G - 10 = 3S +15

=> 2G  = 3S  + 25

 Seeta gives 5 chocolates to Geeta,

=> G + 5  and S - 5

ratio of the chocolates with Geeta and Seeta will be 4:1.

( G + 5)/(S - 5)  = 4/1

=> G + 5 = 4S - 20

=> G = 4S  - 25

=> 2G = 8S - 50

8S - 50 = 3S  + 25

=> 5S  = 75

=> S = 15

G = 4S  - 25

=> G = 4(15) - 25

=> G = 35

Geeta had initially 35 chocolates
