Step-by-step explanation:

Given A conductor moving with a speed of 20 m/s in the direction perpendicular to the direction of magnetic field of induction 0-5 T, induces an EMF of 5 V. The length of the  conductor is

  • Now induced emf = Blv sin theta where theta is the angle made between velocity of conductor and magnetic field. If v is perpendicular to B, then angle between l and B is theta. . If l is perpendicular to B, then angle between v and B is theta.
  • Now velocity of conductor or speed v = 20 m/s
  • Also magnetic field B = 0.5 T
  • Induced or motional emf = 5V
  • We need to find the length of the conductor.
  • So induced emf = Blv sin theta
  •             5 = 0.5 x l x 20 sin 90
  •             5 = 0.5 x 1 x 20 (1)
  •              5 = 10 l
  •       Or l = 5/10
  •   Or l = ½
  •   Or l = 0.5 m
