Find the compound interest on 15,000 for two years at 8% per annum.

Principal = ®15,000

Time = 1 year

Rate of Interest = 8% p.a.

Simple Interest =

 \frac{p \times r \times t}{100}

 =  \frac{15000 \times 8 \times 1}{100}

= ® 1,200

Interest for the first year = ®1,200

::

Amount = P + S.I.

= 15,000+ 1,200

So,

= 16,200

In the second year, the amount in the first year becomes the principal here.

So we have,

Principal =®16,200

Time = 1 year

Rate of Interest = 8% p.a.

Simple Interest =

16,200x1x8 100

= ®1,296

So, Compound Interest for two years = ®1,200 +®1,296 = ®2,496
