Answer :

x = 1 , y = 2

Solution :

Here ,

The given equations are ;

6x + 3y = 6xy ------(1)

2x + 4y = 5xy ------(2)

Now ,

Considering eq-(1) , we have ;

=> 6x + 3y = 6xy

=> 3(2x + y) = 6xy

=> 2x + y = 6xy/3

=> 2x + y = 2xy

=> 2x/xy + y/xy = 2

=> 2/y + 1/x = 2

=> 1/x = 2 - 2/y --------(3)

Now ,

Considering eq-(2) , we have ;

=> 2x + 4y = 5xy

=> 2x/xy + 4y/xy = 5

=> 2/y + 4/x = 5 -------(4)

Now ,

Substituting 1/x = 2 - 2/y in eq-(4) , we get ;

=> 2/y + 4/x = 5

=> 2/y + 4•(1/x) = 5

=> 2/y + 4•(2 - 2/y) = 5

=> 2/y + 8 - 8/y = 5

=> 8 - 5 = 8/y - 2/y

=> 3 = (8 - 2)/y

=> 3 = 6/y

=> y = 6/3

=> y = 2

Now ,

Putting y = 2 in eq-(3) , we get ;

=> 1/x = 2 - 2/y

=> 1/x = 2 - 2/2

=> 1/x = 2 - 1

=> x = 1

Hence ,

x = 1 , y = 2
