Answer:

 \sf{ \frac{5}{2} } \\

Solution:

 \sf{7(2x + 5) - 6(x + 8) = 7}

Using distributive property to multiply 7 by 2x + 5

  \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {14x + 35 - 6(x + 8) = 7}

• Using distributive property to multiply -6 by x + 8

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {14x + 35 - 6x - 48 = 7}

• Combine 14x and -6x to get 8x

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {8x + 35 - 48 = 7}

• Subtracting 48 from 35 to get -13

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {8x - 13 = 7}

• Adding 13 to both sides

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {8x = 7 + 13}

• Adding 7 and 13 to get 20

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {8x = 20}

• Dividing both sides by 8

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {x =  \frac { \cancel{20}}{ \cancel8} }

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \bf \:  \: {x =  \frac{5}{2} } \\
