7 \frac{3}{4}  =  \frac{(7 \times 4) + 3}{4}

 =  \frac{31}{4}

To convert : mixed fraction 7\frac{3}{4}  into  improper  fraction.

Solution :

  • Improper fraction is a fraction in which numerator is greater than denominator .
  • To convert given mixed fraction to improper fraction we   find new numerator for the fraction part of a improper fraction.
  • To get new numerator we multiply the whole number by original denominator 4 and then add the product with numerator .
  • We get , 7\times 4 = 28  
  • Now adding numerator to product .

      ⇒  28 + 3= 31

  • We put new numerator and original denominator together to form improper fraction.  We get, \frac{31}{4} .

Hence conversion of 7\frac{3}{4}  to improper fraction is \frac{31}{4} .
