5(3-x) + 1 = 3(x + 4)

15 - 5x + 1 = 3x + 12

 - 5x - 3x  = 12 - 15 - 1

 - 8x =  - 3 -  1

 - 8x =  - 4

x =  \frac{ - 4}{ - 8}

x =   \frac{ \cancel- 4}{\cancel - 8}

x =  \frac{1}{2}

Therefore the value of x is 1/2
