7. A ball of mass m is suspended from the ceiling with the help of an elastic
ford. An additional downward force applied on the ball
, if increased
gradually to a value Fo, the cord would break. What should be the
additional minimum constant force F that will break the cord?

The correct answer is F = 1/2 (F₀ - mg)

m= mass of the ball

g= acceleration due to gravity

F + mg = Fo - F

F = 1/2 (F₀ - mg)

The equation also indicates the weight of the object (W=mg).

The major feature of this force is that all objects fall at the same rate.
