average \: velocity =  \frac{total \: distance}{total \: time}

Total distance= 40m+ 30m

= 70m

Total time= 20s+ 10s

=30s

According to question:

 =  \frac{40 + 30}{20 + 10}

 =  \frac{70}{30}

 =  \frac{7}{3}
