7. A box is made entirely of glass panes (including base) held together with tape. It is 3 cm long, 2.5 cm
wide and 2.5 cm high. How much of tape is needed for all the 12 edges?
a) 30cm

Tape needed for 12 edges.

Solution,

We have to calculate the sum of the lengths of 12 edges in order to solve this mathematical problem.

Base perimeter = 2×(3+2.5) = 2×5.5 = 11 cm

Top perimeter = Base perimeter = 11 cm

Sum of all edges

= Base perimeter + Top perimeter + (4×height)

= 11+11+(4×2.5)

= 22+10

= 32 cm

Hence, 32 cm of tape will be needed. (option b)
