Step-by-step explanation:

If his speed is x mtr/min in still water and w mtr/minis speed of water, then

x-w= 1000/20=50

x+w= 1000/12= 250/3

adding

2x= 50 + 250/3= 400/3

x=200/3 mtrs/min

time taken to row 1 kms in still water = 1000/(200/3)= 15 mins.

Answer:

Upstream speed, U

=1 km1060hr= 6 km/hr

Downstream speed, D

=1 km460hr=15 km/hr

Speed of the stream, y =D−U2

=15−62=92=4.5 km/hr

himanshibajaj42: thanku for answering but your answer is wrong
himanshibajaj42: 15 mins is the write answer
