7. A floor is 9m long and 8m wide. A square carpet of sides 7m is laid on the floor. Find the area of the floor that is not carpeted

Answer:

Length of floor = 9m

Breadth of floor = 8m

So, we will apply ( l × b )

Area of floor = 4 × 5

= 20m sq.

Side of the carpet is 3m.

So, we will apply area of sq. = side × side

Area of carpet = 3m × 3m

= 9m sq.

To find the area of the floor that is not carpeted we will subtract the area of floor from area of carpet .

Area which is not carpeted = 20m sq. - 9m sq.

= 11m sq.
