Given :  A group of dragons and sheep are randomly divided into 2 equal rows. Each animal in one row is directly opposite an animal in the other row. 75 of the animals are dragons,  number of sheep opposite sheep is 10 more than the number of dragons opposite dragons,

To find : the total number of animals in the group.

Solution:

Dragon =  75

Let say Dragon opposite to dragon =  D

Total dragon opposite to dragons = D + D = 2D

Dragon opposite to Sheep  = 75 - 2D

Sheep opposite to dragon = 75 - 2D

Sheep opposite to Sheep  = D + 10

Total Sheep opposite to Sheep  = D + 10 + D + 10 = 2D + 20

Hence total animals = 2D + 75 - 2D + 75 - 2D +  2D + 20

=170

total number of animals in the group. = 170
