A machine gun is mounted on a vehicle on a horizontal smooth road (friction negligible). The total
mass of vehicle and machine gun is 1000 kg. The gun fires 10 bullet per 100 sec each with a velocity
of 100 m/s. If the mass of each bullets be 10 g, then the acceleration produced in the vehicle is:
(1) 10 cm/s2
(2) 0.1 cm/s2
(3) 0.01 cm/s2
(4) 1 cm/s2

Answer:

Explanation:There is a formula for this

Force = n m v

Where n is no of bullets

m is mass of one bullet

v is the velocity of the bullet

Given that

10 bullets are fired in 100 s Therefore bullets fired in 1 sec= 100/10= 0.1

Mass of one bullet = 10g = 10/1000kg

= 0.01 kg

Force = 0.1 x 0.01 x 100 = 0.1 N

We know that

F = ma

a = F/ mass of vehicle

a = 0.1/ 1000

a = 0.0001 m/s^2

a = 0.01 cm/s^2
