7. A man is cycling in a place where wind is blowing. He travels 12 km against the direction of wind. In doing so, he took the same time as he took while going 28 km in the direction of the wind. If the man is cycling at the rate of 12 km/hr, find the speed of the wind. (Hint: When the man is cycling in the direction of the wind, wind speed is added to his speed; otherwise it is subtracted.)

Answer:

Speed of the wind is 4 km/hr.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Distance traveled against the wind = 12 km

Distance traveled in the direct of wind = 24 km

In both cases time taken is same.

Normal Speed of the cycling = 12 km/hr

To find: Speed of wind.

let x be the speed of wind.

According to the Question,

12x + 144 = 288 - 24x

12x + 24x = 288 - 144

36x = 144

x = 4

Therefore, Speed of the wind is 4 km/hr

Answer:

Speed of the wind is 4 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

Distance traveled against the wind=12km

Distance traveled in the direction of wind=28km

In both cases time taken is same

Normal speed of cycling=12km/h

let x be the speed of wind

ATQ,

12x+144=336-28x

12x+28x=336-144

40x=192

x=192/40

x=4.8km/h

Therefore,Speed of the wind is 4.8km/h
