a)Four enzymes present in the intestinal juice are maltase speeds up breakdown maltose to glucose, sucrase speeds up the breakdown of sucrose to glucose and fructose, lactase breaks down lactose to glucose and galactose and peptidase breaks down peptides into amino acids.
b)Like chemical catalysts, enzymes increase the reaction rate by lowering its activation energy (Ea), hence, products are formed faster and reactions reach their equilibrium state more rapidly. The rates of most enzymatic reactions are millions of times faster than those of the uncatalyzed reaction.
