7. A spy report about a suspected car reads as follows. "The
car moved 2:00 km towards east, made a perpendicular
left turn, ran for 500 m, made a perpendicular right
turn,
for 4.00 km and stopped”. Find the
displacement of the car.

Before starting convert all distance in same unit like:-

2km

500m=0.5km

4km

AD vector = 2I + 0.5I + 4km

and by pythagoras theorem,

AD = (under root) ( (AE 2) + ( DE 2) ) = 6.02km

tan= ( DE/AE) = 1/12

Tan-1 = (1/12)

So , the displacement of the car along the distance tan-1 (1/12) with positive x-axis is 6.02km.
