perimeter of rectangle = perimeter of square

length of rectangle = 40cm

breath of rectangle = 22cm

perimeter = 2 (l+b)

= 2 (40 + 22)

= 124cm

NOW,

perimeter of rectangle = perimeter of square

124 = 4a

124/4 = a

31 = a

so,

a = 31cm

now needed to find which area is bigger

area of rectangle = l × b

= 40 × 22

= 88cm²

area of square = a × a

= 31 × 31

= 961cm²

so, the area of SQUARE is greater than the area of RECTANGLE
