7. An aluminium rod ABC consisting of two parts AB (length = 300 mm, 40 mm diameter) and BC (length = 450 mm, 60 mm diameter) is subjected to a compressive load of 125 kN. The bar is to be replaced by steel rod of length 750 mm to carry the same compressive load. Find the diameter of steel rod if its decrease in length shall not exceed that of aluminium rod and the stress in the rod does not exceed 160 N/mm2. Take Es = 2 x 105 N/mm2, Ea = 0.7 x 105 N/mm2
