7. Assertion(A) : Card numbered as 1,2,3,4 -----15 are put in a box and mixed
thoroughly, one card is then drawn at random. The probability of getting an even
number is 1/2 (HOTS)
Reasoning(R) : For any event Ewe have 0 S P(E) 1
a) Both A and Rare true and R is the correct explanation of A
b) Both A and Rare true and R is not the correct explanation of A

Given : Assertion(A) : Card numbered as 1,2,3,4 -----15 are put in a box and mixed Thoroughly, one card is then drawn at random. The probability of getting an even number is 1/2

Reasoning(R) : For any event E we have 0 ≤  P(E) ≤ 1

To Find : Comment on Reason and assertion

Solution:

Card numbered as 1,2,3,4 -----15

=> Total Cards  = 15

n(S) = 15

E = Event of getting even number

E = { 2 , 4 , 6 , 8 , 10 , 12 , 14 }

n(E) = 7

P(E) = n(E)/n(S)

= 7/15

7/15 ≠ 1/2

Hence  Assertion(A) is FALSE

Reasoning(R) : For any event E we have 0 ≤  P(E) ≤ 1  TRUE

so correct answer is  A is false but R is true
