acceleration due to gravity is nothing but the ratio to WEIGHT AND MASS of a body and WEIGHT itself is the force i.e. W=mg so g= W/m

so g is directly proportional to W. So What is a type of force and F=ma so F is directly proportional to a

so g=W/m (W=force)

So g=f/m

F=ma

so g is directly proportional to force (weight) .Hence as we move above earth's surfec force of gravity i. e. weight increases and thus the acceleration due to gravity (g) also increases.
