Answer:

A) Local and standard time

The key difference between Local Time and Standard Time lies in the fact that local time refers to the time which is estimated based on the sun's movement, while standard time refers to the time which is fixed for particular places by the law of a country.

B) Equator and prime meridian

The Prime Meridian divides the globe into Eastern and Western hemispheres, just as the equator divides the globe into Northern and Southern hemispheres. The Prime Meridian is at 0 degrees longitude, just as the equator is at 0 degrees latitude. Use a time zone map to locate the Prime Meridian and Greenwich, England.

Answer:

꧁DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LOCAL AND STANDARD TIME꧂

⭆The time in particular region or area is expressed with reference to the meridian passing through it.

⭆ While the time of the meridian that passes through the centre of country is considered the time of meridian of the whole country. This time is called the standard time of that country.

⭆ If the IST is 12:00 noon , the local of Mumbai is 39 minutes - IST = 11.21 minutes a.m.

⭆ Since Mumbai is on 72*82' east longitudes,it is 9*45' behind the 82*30' .Thus the local time of Mumbai is 9.45x 4 = 39 minutes.

꧁DIFFERENCES BETWEEN EQUATOR AND PRIME MERIDIAN꧂

⭆ While equator is 0* latitude, prime meridian is 0* longitude.

⭆While equator divides the earth into parts i.e, Northern hemisphere & southern hemisphere , the prime meridian divides the earth into two equal parts ie, Eastern hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere.

⭆ While equator is a circle the prime meridian is a semi - circle.
