We know that the

                   Surface area of sphere = 4πr^2

 hence

       1256 = 4×3.14×r^2

       1256 = 12.56 × r^2

       1256÷12.56 = r^2

       100 = r^2

        \sqrt{100\\} = r

therefore  

             r = 10cm

We know that

      Diameter (d) = 2(r)

                       d = 2(10)

therefore

            d = 20cm
