7. Find the mean and median of the following:
11, 14, 15, 14, 17, 19
If x is added to the numbers, the new mean
is 14, find x.​

Answer :

Mean = 15

Median = 14.5

x = -1

Solution :

Given,

Data : 11, 14, 15, 14, 17, 19

To find :

Mean and median

Explanation :

Ascending order : 11, 14, 14, 15, 17, 19

Mean = sum of terms ÷ no. of terms

= 90 ÷ 6

= 15

Median = (14 + 15)/2

= 14.5

If x is added to the numbers, the new mean

is 14.

15 + x = 14

x = -1
