The line segment joining the points (-3, 10) and (6,-8) is divided by (-1,6)

Let , the point (-1,6) divide the given line segment in ratio m : n

We know that , the section formula is given by

 \boxed{ \sf{x =  \frac{ mx_{2} + nx_{1} }{m + n}  \: , \: y=  \frac{ my_{2} + my_{1} }{m + n} }}

Thus ,

-1 = (6m - 3n)/m + n

-m - n = 6m - 3n

7m = 2n

m/n = 2/7

★ The required ratio is 2 : 7
