equivalent resistance=220/7
then V=IR
I=V/R
I=220/220/7
I=7A
SO 7A PASSES THROUGH WHOLE CIRCUIT
THEN EACH RESISTANCE SUFFERS 1A OF CURRENT
THEN RESISTANCE THAT ARE AWAY FROM AMMETER ARE 5 FROM WHICH CURRENT GOES TO AMMETER
THEN READING WILL BE 5A

Answer:

Current flowing through ammeter is 5 Ampere .

Explanation:

  • If n resistances of equal value, R are connected in parallel, then the equivalent resistance is given by

R(eq) =  \frac{R}{n} ohmsIn the given circuit :

  • All the seven lamps having resistances 220 ohm are connected in parallel.
  • The ammeter is connected in between point ab and bc.

Solution :

  • Two equal valued resistances are connected in parallel between point ab
  • Equivalent resistance between points a and b is

R(ab) =  \frac{R}{2}  =  \frac{220}{2}  \\  = 110 \: ohms

  • Five equal valued resistances are connected between point bc
  • Equivalent resistance between points b and c is

R(bc) =  \frac{220}{5}  \\  = 44 \: ohms

  • From the figure it is clear that, current, I in the ammeter is equal to current flowing in 44 ohms resistance.

current, I =  \frac{V}{R}  \\  I =  \frac{220}{44}  = 5A

  • Hence, current flowing through ammeter is 5 Ampere .
