Taking a=2, b=k, c=4

alpha+beta=-b/a

2+beta=-k/2

beta=-k/2-2

beta= -k-4/2

product of the root

alpha×beta=c/a

=4/2

=2

putting the value of beta in -k-4/2

2×-k-4/2=2

-k-4=2

k= -6

beta=-6-4/2

=6-4/2

=2/2

=1

Therefore the value of beta is 1
