7. In an election, Pardhu got 40% of the total votes,
Eswar got 33% of the remaining votes and Basanth
got 37.5% of the remaining votes and Chetan got the
remaining 12,000 votes. How many votes were polled
in the election. (Assume that all the votes polled
were valid).​

Here X is the remaining value, which has been used subsequently for chetan, basanth, eswar and pardhu.

T is the total no. of votes.

Percentages have been converted to ratio.

Also note that the concept of 'remaining value' for the no. of votes for chetan has been used, which has been carried forward to basant, eswar and pardhu.
