Answer:

 \frac{1 + 2 \sqrt{5} }{5 - 2 \sqrt{5} } \times  \frac{5 + 2 \sqrt{5} }{5 + 2 \sqrt{5} }   = a + b \sqrt{5}

 \frac{5 + 2 \sqrt{5 } + 10 \sqrt{5}  + 20 }{25 - 20}  = a + b \sqrt{5}

 \frac{25 + 12 \sqrt{5} }{5}  = a + b \sqrt{5}

25 + 12 \sqrt{5}  = 5a + 5b \sqrt{5}

5a = 25 \\ a = 5

5b \sqrt{5}  = 12 \sqrt{5 }  \\ b =  \frac{12}{5}
