7km = 7000 m

total = 7000 + 500 m = 7500m

7500 = 8x + 7x

7500 = 15x

7500/15 = x

500 = x

8x = 8 × 500 = 4000m = 4 km

7x = 7 × 500 = 3500m = 3.5 km
