Engineer and many other words like engineer have no direct alternative in Urdu or for that matter Punjabi or any other local Asian language. This is because languages adopt words from other langauges and also continue to come up with words of their own (evolution of languages) if there's a need and shortage in the local culture and workspace for that particular word or thing. Ever since the advent of Urdu some 3–4 centuries back and right until very recently, like, say by the mid of the last century, this region wasn't producing any considerable number of engineers locally to have felt the dire need of such a word. Similar is the case for other local languages. People before me have answered Maymaar but that serves different purposes. Engineer is engineer (انجنئیر) in Urdu as well as Punjabi.
And if you notice, engineer is engineer is almost all the major languages of the world with only minor pronunciation changes. That's because English itself adopted a large number of words and vocabulary from other ancient languages such as Latin which serves as a mother of many modern langauges. So for example, an engineer is ingénieur in French, ingegnere in Italian, ingeniero in Spanish. Those are languages that share their ancestry with English and their script is identical. Engineer is Mohandas (مہندس) in Arabic and Persian, so you could argue that it would Mohandas in Urdu as well because it has its roots in Arabic, Persian and Turkish than English. That's true but note that the concept of an engineer and doctor and other modern academic fields has been taken from English and British people since we have been a colony of them and they still have a huge influence here linguistically, culturally and psychologically. Also, of the US. So while you may find the word Mohandas in some Urdu dictionary, it's not used anywhere and nobody is remotely familiar with it unless they have spent some time in Saudi Arabia :)
