(7) Observe the figure and answer:

Wax layer
Solid spheres of iron, copper and lead of equal mass are
put in boiling water till they reach a temperature of 100°C
and immediately placed on wax slab. It is observed that
iron sphere goes deepest into the wax. Lead sphere the
Copper
least and copper sphere goes intermediate depth.

(i) What can we conclude observing the different depths
reached by spheres in the wax slab?

(ii) Which property do we learn about from this activity?

(iii) Why has iron sphere gone deepest in wax slab amongst the three?

Answer:

iii) because iron have more specific heat capacity than others , while we know that iron gain heat slowly and lost heat slowly, when iron sphere gone in wax its have much heat than other and gone deepest than amongst three
